Reducing the number of surgical procedures for a complete arch implant-supported prosthesis
A common problem for the completely edentulous patient is a lack of stability and retention of the
dentures which causes patents challenges in essential daily activities such as eating, speaking and social interaction. A popular treatment is to restore the patient with a full arch implant – fixed prosthesis, or commonly called the All-on-4 or All-on-X prosthesis. Due to insufficient quantity of good quality bone, additional surgeries for bone/soft tissue grafting are often necessary. The zygomatic implants are intended to be used in the severely atrophic maxilla where grafting would be undesirable. This article focuses on the fabrication of a stable and predictive surgical guide requiring fewer surgeries for the fabrication of a complete arch implant-supported prosthesis for the partially edentulous patient.
